McBride Contemporain is proud to announce that the artwork Girls on Campus (2012) by Yves Tessier has been acquired by the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal and is now a part of the museum's permanent collection.
Over the years, Tessier has developed a unique pictorial language that explores a multitude of different scenarios and subjects. With wet, fluid strokes laid down over dry strokes, he works in casein paints on a group of marble dust gesso, applied to aluminum or wood panels. This technique lends an extra dimension of graphically elegant flatness to his compositions while his fields of colour simultaneously evoke our quotidian reality with a profoundly intimate perspective in equal measure.
