NADINE FARAJ

Nadine Faraj makes watercolour paintings with an intensity that combines soul and sensuality. Often inspired by the world of erotica, her figures fully embrace their own splendor, fluid bodies merging with each other and their surroundings. She handles watercolour with radical freedom, imbuing her characters with a vibrant presence that expresses psychological depth and celebrates a complex humanity. Her work highlights the desires and vulnerabilities that make up our intimate experience, while affirming her commitment to human rights, LGBTQIA2S+ activism, feminism, bodily autonomy, and collective liberation.

Nadine Faraj lives and works in Montreal. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York (2015) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montreal (2002). Her work has been exhibited internationally, notably in New York, Montreal, Toronto, Mexico City, London, Athens, and Dubai. Faraj’s works have been featured in renowned publications such as Le Devoir, CBC/Radio-Canada, Hyperallergic, Wallpaper Magazine, A Women’s Thing Magazine (cover), Huffington Post, Arte Fuse, and Vulture. Faraj is also represented by the Anna Zorina Gallery in New York.
