Solo exhibition “kiyânaw” by Bea Parsons featured in Border Crossings Magazine

April 15, 2026

McBride Contemporain is thrilled to share that kiyânaw, a solo exhibition by Bea Parsons that took place at the gallery autumn 2025, has been reviewed by Cameron Skene in Border Crossings Magazine (Issue 170 – Canada). The article traces connections between Parsons’ vibrant pencil crayon drawings and installation, situating them in relation to enduring and contemporary Indigenous currents of thought, as expressed through recurring ideas, motifs, and forms.

“Pine needles, placentas and ribbons unfurl centrally to the outside, like the ribbon skirt, weaving in the crowded figures at the edges, whose marginal unity alludes to community involvement. The paper works overall are a flurry of shapes, colour and line, drawing the viewer in at first glance but compelling them to dig further.” — Cameron Skene
