Berirouche Feddal

Berirouche Feddal explores a variety of themes through his practice, including African popular culture, African utopia, cultural traces of the mythical and of religion, postcolonial studies, and the indigenization of narratives, as well as experiences related to his own migration. As a transdisciplinary artist, he employs various mediums such as print, photography, woodcut and engraving, and performance to delve into notions of history, identity, and culture. His artistic approach encourages contemplation of the complexity of identity within the diaspora, and questioning his own position amid a continually evolving cultural heritage.

Berirouche Feddal is an artist born in Algeria in 1996, of Kabyle origin. He lives and works between Tiohtià:ke Montréal and London, where he is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London (2025–2027). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Print Media with distinction from Concordia University (2020). His work has been the subject of several solo and two-person exhibitions in Canada and internationally, including at the Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal (2025), Maison de la culture Marie-Uguay (2024), McBride Contemporain (2024), L’Imagier in Gatineau (2024), Bradley Ertaskiran (2022), Maison des arts de Laval (2022), Conseil des arts de Montréal (2022), as well as at Conserverie Marrakech in Morocco (2019). Feddal’s works are held in several public and private collections, including those of the Royal Bank of Canada, TD Bank, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Pointe-à-Callière Museum, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, Hydro-Québec, and Power Corporation. His work is currently presented as part of Manif d’art in Quebec City, curated by Dounia Bouzidi, as well as in the group exhibition La clarté creuse les montagnes, presented at the Musée d’art de Joliette and curated by Ariane de Blois.
