Biography

Sisi Chen is an artist who views the world like a constellation, where things are not fixed but constantly changing basaed on how we navigate through time and space. She explores the connections between identity, science, and metaphysics, which blend together in fluid and sometimes conflicting ways. Her projects are immersive and engage multiple senses, incorporating scents, sounds, and textures, breaking away from the traditional reliance on visual elements alone. Through her work, Chen offers diverse ways of experiencing and understanding art that go beyond conventional visual hierarchies.

Sisi Chen is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She received a BA from Laguna College of Art and Design (CA) in 2012, and an MFA from Hunter College (NY) in 2021. Working primarily in sculpture and installation, Chen approaches the world through a constellational understanding, in which positioning is not measured through fixed coordinates, but is continually shifting, contingent upon one's own navigation through ever-fluxing time and space. Recent exhibitions include Hauser & Wirth (online, NY), FiveMyles (Brooklyn, NY), Tappeto Volante (Brooklyn, NY), Tiger Strikes Asteroid Philly (Philadelphia, PA), Underdonk (Brooklyn, NY), and Hilbert Raum (Berlin, DE). Upcoming exhibitions include a solo exhibition at Hunter College Project Space (New York, NY). Chen is adjunct faculty at Hunter College, and a member of Tiger Strikes Asteroid NY.
