Presented for the first time at the McBride Contemporain gallery in Montreal as part of the 2023 Nuit Blanche, Parties composantes is a performance consisting of a series of visual and sound actions highlighting DRAC’s acoustic and architectural specificities.
Using a variety of pencils, as well as a microphone and amplifier, Mathieu Lacroix focuses on drawing and its performative dimension. With each stroke left on a sheet of paper or on a DRAC surface, the sound of the pencils is amplified in space, echoing the creative gesture. The result is a formal (de)construction of the act of drawing, both literally and figuratively.
